This crook (educated lawyer) was elected president of a Municipality outside Lisbon for different periods between 1986 and the present time. Throughout the years, he has been accused of tax fraud, money laundering, passive corruption, abuse of power and malfeasance. Convicted and jailed in 2013 for tax fraud and money laundering. Despite his "curriculum vitae", he was reelected (!?) again in 2017 and 2021 with an absolute majority (50,86%). 

I think one can make two conclusions; The first one is that democracy is also for idiots. The second one is that if the system has an elected and convicted-crook-in-charge....who the hell will blame you for anything ?
