Cowardly assassinated in the streets of Stockholm, February 28, 1986. The investigation carried on by the Swedish authorities was a magnificent demonstration of total incompetence. The case was never solved.

British Museum....stealing history in the past, and erasing history in the present. 

The museum officially stated that these changes were part of a regular "gallery refresh" and were "influenced by audience research and visitor 😂 feedback". The changes came after pressure from the pro-Israeli legal organization UK Lawyers for israHell, which argued in a letter to the museum that the term was historically inaccurate and anachronistic when used to describe the region thousands of years ago.

A Museum built with stolen items continues its dark history with....lies.

The price of courage....

A few days in June 1940, the Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux, Aristides de Sousa Mendes conceded (during day and night) visas for thousands of refugees escaping the German Nazis. This was a clear disobedience to the guidelines drawn by the Portuguese fascist regime in not conceding any visas to refugees. Aristides was promptly called back to Lisbon in order to explain his conduct. He was dismissed from the diplomatic corpus and blacklisted for the rest of his days. His family lost their properties, and he could no longer provide for his large family. Sousa Mendes died in poverty in 1954, aged 68.

He saved thousands of lives with the disobedience....

In Sweden, it is illegal to advertise alcoholic beverages together with food. In a country where alcohol sales are almost totally controlled by the state, the hilarious rules tend to become a bad joke. The impossibility of buying a bottle of wine on a Sunday is one of them, because the state alcohol retailer Systembolaget is closed on Sundays. Imposing this on adult citizens is no less than stupid state dictatorship and arrogance. Not many decades ago, people were obliged to order food in restaurants.....if they wanted to have a beer or a glass of wine. But now it's the opposite 😡? The wrong message now is to have food together with a beer or whatever ???? Remarkable that this country is so advanced in so many ways....but when it comes to alcohol and light drugs, prohibition/restrictions and long-term stupidity is the only answer. The many criminal gangs operating in the country are very grateful for that....

Mamede and Lopes in 1984 at Stockholms Stadion

On July 2, 1984, at Stockholm Stadium.....he and his club mate Carlos Lopes broke the current world record of the 10,000 meters. What could have been a brilliant career for Mamede never materialized due to his bad nerves during international championships. Just a few weeks later, and in excellent physical shape, he abandoned the race during the 10,000 meters final at the Los Angeles Olympics. In a time when psychological training was non-existent for elite athletes, his extraordinary talent was wasted.

His only individual medal at international level was a bronze medal at the World Cross Country Championships in Madrid in 1981. Fernando Mamede passed away on January 27, 2026, aged 74.
